Set within native bush overlooking NZ's wildest West Coast Beach, the first Waitangi Day Muriwai Festival is a festival with a difference. bush. Just 35 minutes from Ponsonby Rd and a short walk from one of NZ's most spectacular surf beaches, Anika Moa, Moana & the Tribe, Maisey Rika, Pacific Curls, Nat Rose, Majic and many more will be singing the tune that ‘Every Day is Waitangi Day.’ Over 15 painters, photographers, sculptors, jewellers etc that live in and around Muriwai Beach will be creating new works for sale as part of a special Waitangi Day Exhibition. A hikoi to sacred sites at the venue and guests getting grilled onstage in ‘the Hot Seat, then a hangi-in-a-pie...something for everyone.
With all music, art, cuisine, korero and crafts acknowledging 'Every Day is Waitangi Day,' a strict zero waste, alcohol and smoke free policy AND limited ticket sales, the Muriwai Waitangi Day Festival kicks off 2012 on just the right note.
